Earlier this year, Jonathan and Marissa held their official wedding ceremony in Hawaii! Brilliant way to tie the knot, by the way. Destination weddings are ALWAYS a good idea. With only immediate family present, they knew a celebration was still needed for their friends and family back home in Northern Michigan. They contracted the creative spirit of Alicia Caldecott of A Day In May to assist them in planning their tropical themed soiree at their home on Lake Michigan. One of the elements that I loved about the decor was the abundance of simple but vibrant floral pieces throughout the property. Jonathan and Marissa wanted to not only welcome those most dear to them into their new life together but they also wanted to welcome them into their home to enjoy a little piece of paradise. No corner was left untouched. It’s one thing to throw a celebration in a hotel or banquet hall, but it’s an entirely different type of hospitality to invite a large group of people into your personal space. Since the wedding, I’ve gotten to know Jonathan and Marissa a lot better and can attest that their generosity and kindness are both pure and abundant. Through their actions, they’ve taught me so much about celebrating the people in my life and about how true hospitality works. This sweet family is the real deal. I’m so honored to have met them and play a small part in their celebration!
