First up is a sweet couple,  Win and Kristen, whose engagement pictures Jen shot around the campus of the University of Michigan and the hospital where they met. They will be getting married next June!

A precious couple, Daryn and Kira, are pictured here with their firstborn girl, Emmry. Jen had the honor of shooting not only the maternity pictures but the birth and newborn pictures as well!

College sweethearts, Lauren and Reilly held a huge bash in Minnesota, surrounded by enthused friends and family; their modern style and warm personalities shining through the details, which were coordinated by Alicia Caldecott of A Day in May Events.

Walloon Lake was the backdrop to Jen and Chris’s nuptials; what a gorgeous day and lovely couple! This event was also designed and coordinated by Alicia Caldecott of A Day in May Events!

Lauren and Erwan’s wedding was held outdoors at the bride’s home on Grand Traverse Bay; the groom’s French heritage added a unique twist to the beautiful decor and spirited atmosphere. Alicia Caldecott was the mastermind behind this extraordinary event as well!

And what’s a crazy summer without Jen’s two boys, Ethan and Carter being their goofy selves!  These boys took time out of their busy schedules to help Jen test out her new light modifiers. They might be another reason why her hands have been full lately!

A combination of things that reflected the couples’ hometowns – Saratoga water from upstate NY, Jacques Torres chocolates from NYC, and the champagne and cherries from the Traverse City area.

John Pottenger of Coastline Studios was contracted last minute to run the groom’s solo camera and manage to capture this incredible footage of their first dance!

Another fun thing was that Joey and Chris contracted us to do a photo booth in the corner of the room with onsite printing of 5×7 prints.  Each guest was able to take home a framed photo of themselves as their wedding favor!  Finallly, a favor that doesn’t end up in the garbage!  :)  Props complements of the bride!

Dominique’s daughter gave a beautiful toast in both French and English (bride’s family is all from Quebec).

Few words for this toast.  You had to be there.  I wept.

In our initial meeting, Tom asked me, “I know you know how to photograph people, but do you know how to photograph horses?”  Even though I grew up around horses at the summers I spent as a “staff kid” at Anchor Point Camp, I hadn’t been around them much with a camera.  Tom asked me to do my homework on what types of lenses are best for photographing horses, so as to not distort the body.  Even though Dominique didn’t ride down the aisle on horseback as originally planned, Ryan and I still did our best to photograph some of the horses in the pastures.

Can’t forget the cows.  :)

Nikon D2Xs Body:

Purchased in the fall of 2006. Refurbished last year, only 679 actuations since then.  Looks and acts like new minus the small rubber grip on the bottom that had started to peel off (fixed with black electrical tape–unnoticeable).  Paid $5,000, asking $1,000.

Nikon D3 Body:

Purchased in the summer of 2008.  This is my current work horse boasting 111,213 actuations.  I’m planning on upgrading to the Nikon D3s for the addition of video and expanded ISO for the rare wedding that occurs in the dark (or a giant cathedral in LA with no windows and medieval chandeliers).  It’s still going strong with only a couple of minor scuffs on the bottom of the vertical grip.  Paid $5,000, asking $3,500.

Nikon 14-24mm 2.8

Purchased fall 2009.  This lens is known for being the crowning achievement of Nikon’s glass collection.  It’s simply not my style.  I’ve only used it a few times.  Like new.  Asking $1500.
