Last weekend’s wedding took place in Grand Rapids! I only spent 15 minutes in the car getting to the salon and was back in my own bed by midnight. It almost felt like cheating. I need more Grand Rapids weddings next year. ;)
Meeting Lindsey and her mother, Diane, months ago, I knew this day would be special. They are truly precious women for whom I have the utmost respect and admiration. This was my first experience with a Christian Orthodox ceremony and it definitely left it’s mark. One interesting thing to note — there are no spoken vows in the ceremony as the whole ceremony is considered a vow. I love that. The sanctuary is also unbelievable. Jenn at Modern Day Floral did a superb job with the design and orchestration of the details, including making the Ambassador Ballroom at Amway Grand Hotel sparkle!
Lindsey and Pat, thank you for your kindness and your hospitality! I sure hope the hurricane didn’t disrupt your honeymoon too much!
*special thanks to Ryan Prins for being my second photographer!*
First up — a few details… This Kenneth Pool gown caught the light unlike any other dress I’ve ever seen! So stunning.

A quick ring shot on a dining room chair pad around lunch time.

Lindsey & Diane… gorgeous women, inside and out!

A few bonus reception details…

This past weekend was spent in Lake Leelanau at the Field of Flowers farm to celebrate the lives and commitment of Rosie and Isaac! It was such a relaxed, wonderfully enjoyable event to be a part of! A highlight for me was the Bluegrass band they brought from St. Louis… perfect complement to their barn wedding. Although the hammer dulcimer was a close second. Rosie and Isaac met each other while studying photography, and while Rosie moved onto Medicine, Isaac remained on the film side of things. I have to admit… I love documenting the events of creative souls! There is NEVER a dull moment, as you’ll see below.

Dancing Queen Award goes to Rosie’s 85 year old Grandma! Love her!

And some extra, fun details…

The one thing the flower girl wanted most… pearls. Smart girl

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Miguel and Alexa to discuss their wedding next year as well as do some engagement photos at Alexa’s family summer cottage. While it was a cooker of a day, Miguel and Alexa didn’t seem to notice at all. In fact, they get an A+ for laughter, love, and life. How cute are they?! Can’t wait for the wedding (which will be amazing as it’s being designed and orchestrated by A Day In May)!
*Special thanks to Jonathan Thrasher who manned a second camera!

A tribute to Miguel's homeland, Portugal

Alexa's hommage

I love it when couple's integrate props that actually have significance to them.

This past weekend was once again spent in an area that is quickly becoming my second home, Traverse City! Jack and Julie were a dream to work with… taking me up on all my crazy ideas to do a catwalk, hike through a vineyard, and go off-roading through golden fields. At one point, I even put Jack up to the task of dancing with his beloved bride in a specific place on the dance floor. Normally I don’t “arrange” moments and even said as much to Jack, but his response was, “That’s ok, she won’t know it’s staged!” The resulting image was the dancing picture below. Well done, Jack. :) I hope you both are enjoying every second in Maui!!
